Located on a small headland at Vieux Grand Port, on the lagoon of Mahebourg, villa 13816 is nestled in a big tropical garden fully fenced guaranteeing guests a very private stay with a 180? view of the lagoon thanks to its long stretch of front garden which borders the water's edge. The villa has direct access to the lagoon, but in this part of the island, there are not a lot of beaches and thus there is no beach in front of the property.
Pristine lagoon waters are however available within 5 minutes by boat. Subject to prior arrangement via the housekeeper Santa, guests can book a speed boat with a skipper who knows the lagoon like the back of his hand for tailor-made sea trips with a pick-up directly in front of the villa. Furthermore, 3 sturdy sea kayaks are available for use by guests.
The village of Vieux Grand Port plays a significant role in the history of Mauritius. It is a place where the sea meets the mountains. The village is known as the cradle of the island's colonisation - the Dutch having settled in this area in the 17th century with several ruins testifying to it. The village is surrounded by unique natural landscapes, such as the Lion Mountain, as well as endemic flora and fauna, and its huge natural bay. This bay was the site of the historic ?Battle of Grand Port? between the French and the British in 1810 (the only naval battle won by Napoleon).
The lagoon of Mahebourg, which stretches from Blue Bay to Ile aux Cerfs, is the biggest lagoon of Mauritius and is famous for its excellent kite surfing conditions. Several small islands are scattered within the turquoise waters of the lagoon, amongst others one of Mauritius' most famous tourist attractions, Ile aux Cerfs. These islands are easily accessible by boat, so step aboard the private speed boat that can be organised directly from the villa or the neighbouring beach and take a boat trip to explore the lagoon.
A 15-minute car drive takes you into the former historic capital of Mauritius, Mahebourg, where you will find all the necessary shopping facilities, bars, and restaurants.
Fans of the golf sport will enjoy Villa Paolita's proximity to 3 18-hole golf courses: Anahita at 20 min, Ile aux Cerf at 30 min, and Avalon at 30 min. 6 other golf clubs are within 45 minutes from the villa.
