Dea Villas located in Canggu, Bali, features three pavilions on terraced land, connected by an antique-lined walkway, with pools and lily ponds enhancing its serene ambiance. From the traditional Balinese entrance, lava-stone steps lead across an ornamental pond to an open-sided living pavilion facing the swimming pool and sun terrace. Lower down, reached via further steps over cascading ponds, is the stand-alone guest bedroom suite, while up on the highest level, opening onto a terrace and pond above the pool, is the master suite and a twin-bedded guest suite.

Sitting at the centre of Dea Villas, with rice-terrace views beyond louvered shutters, is the open-sided, fan-cooled antique joglo living pavilionwith its magnificently carved pillars and ornate ceiling. On one side, parallel to a pond with a fire bowl and a carved sandstone screen, sits a four-meter-long teakwood table. With tub chairs at the heads and cushioned benches on both sides, it comfortably seats 10 with room to spare. On the other side, an oversized sofa and chairs face the waterfall-fed swimming pool, with the master bedroom pavilion rising above.
Behind a reclaimed brick wall, a compact yet well-equipped kitchen features two fridges, a wine fridge, an espresso machine, and a walk-in pantry.

The garden offers more tranquil spaces for relaxation. On the poolside sundeck, a pair of sun loungers sit side by side, while a daybed, shaded by an age-weathered thatch roof and raised on river rocks, provides an elevated view of the rice terraces. Each of the three bedrooms features a private seating area tucked within a secluded garden setting.

Bedrooms

  • Master Bedroom: The palatial master bedroom suite is simply stunning. Between soaring reclaimed teak wood pillars raised on terrazzo plinths rests a king-size bed cocooned by billowing net curtains to create a room-within-a-room. A large sitting area with deeply cushioned over-size sofa and armchairs leads onto a sun-drenched terrace with double sunbed looking over a foliage-strewn pond towards the living pavilion below. Behind the bed is a huge dressing area and to the side are sliding doors to an enormous semi-open bathroom with statement river-stone bathtub set by an antique Chinese screen.
  • Guest Bedroom: In a separate pavilion on the lower terrace. King-size bed raised on a terrazzo platform between four joglo pillars. Daybed between twin desks. Sliding glass doors onto private garden with table and chairs. Dressing area leads to large garden bathroom with rainshower and huge open air river-rock bathtub
  • Twin Bedroom: Twin bedroom shares same pavilion as master bedroom, so has towering walls and soaring roof. Twin wardrobes and dressing tables. Tropical garden bathroom. Small sun terrace with Ganesha statue
